*ABSON

 

This disk I/O control permits transfer of non-ASCII data from a disk file into character string variables. This control disables the checking for End Of Record (EOR) that is transferred into the character string variable. *ABSON has no effect on any numeric variables in the list (so data transferred into numeric variables must still conform to valid numeric format). All remaining character string variables in the list are affected until an *ABSOFF is executed or the program terminates.
