*ABSON (KEYIN)

*ABSON

This list control allows entry of any value (ASCII or non-ASCII) into a character string variable. It initiates the KEYIN continuous mode (*+) and remains in effect until execution of an *ABSOFF control or until the KEYIN list is exhausted. Numeric variables executed in the list automatically disable the control for their entry.

When the control is in effect, the function and special or cursor keys remain operational but the BACKSPACE and ENTER key sequences are placed in the variable and their functions are ignored.
